This year’s Botika ng Barangay (BnB) Visayas Zonal Summit was held at Bohol Tropics Resort in Tagbilaran City, Bohol last November 24 – 25, 2011 with the theme “Generics Para sa Kalusugan, Gamot Pangkalahatan”.
The affair was attended by participants from Regions VI, VII, and VIII represented by its local government officials – Mayors and Barangay Captains, Provincial Health Officers, Municipal Health Officers, Provincial BnB Coordinators, BnB operators, and DOH personnel with a distinguished guest in the person of the Governor of Bohol, Edgar M. Chatto.

The Asia Pacific Action Alliance on Human Resources for Health (AAAH) is a partnership of fifteen countries that aims to strengthen health workforce systems planning and implementation. This conference is being held annually to discuss the progress & global challenges of AAAH nations and also to serve as an avenue to exchange best practices in HRH management and development.
1st Reunion of Saved Babies

In observance of the celebration of the National Newborn Screening Month, the Department of Health-Center for Health Development Central Visayas in coordination with the Newborn Screening Center-Visayas conducted the first “Reunion of Saved Babies” last October 27, 2011 at Holiday Plaza Hotel, Cebu City.
The said undertaking brought together screened and saved children from the four provinces of the region who were diagnosed with congenital inborn errors of metabolism. It was also a way of celebrating the normal lives of the children and to rally the support of parents to actively advocate Newborn Screening to fellow parents and guardians. It also aimed to increase the level of awareness and understanding on the said disorders in order to help cope with their children’s disorder.
